Mission & Vision
The UCSF Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative conducts rigorous research to inform effective solutions. We center the perspectives of those who have experienced homelessness and rely on their expertise to inform critical aspects of research, program design, analysis, and policy recommendations. We acknowledge that long-standing laws, policies, and practices continue to influence who becomes homeless and center fairness in our individual, organizational, and collective work to prevent and end homelessness. We use strategic science to address gaps in knowledge where our research can inform policies to help our communities thrive. Our findings help inform policymakers and practitioners about effective homelessness
Research Area
Mitigation & Solutions
The solution to homelessness is housing. Rehousing interventions to quickly connect people to housing and necessary services can help prevent and end homelessness. UCSF BHHI establishes evidence-based strategies and interventions to mitigate homelessness and housing instability. Our solutions address structural barriers that negatively impact the prevention and exiting of homelessness.
